Holiday Liqueurs

Holiday Spiced Liqueur

In in 2011, I embarked on a quest to create a spiced rum. In doing so I created combinations of spices with rum in samples too numerous to count! However, in the process, I did come up with a delicious recipe for a rum-based spice liqueur, and it’s exactly what you would want for the holidays with hints of mulling spices and orange peel. To my amazement, the bottles flew off the shelf in our tasting room – my goal had been to sell 100 bottles, but we ended up selling over 300 in just two months.

Holiday Eggnog Liqueur

In 2012 I discovered an interesting recipe for Advocaat, a Dutch liqueur made with eggs, sugar, and brandy. From my first sip, I was amazed at the smooth custard-like flavor. The original recipe is super thick and is meant to be poured into a spoon. My variation made the liqueur easier to pour, and tasted very similar to Eggnog, except that there were no spices. I contemplated adding spices to the mix, but nothing tastes as good as freshly-grated nutmeg. We started pouring samples in our tasting room with this product in November 2012, and it was a runaway hit.

Holiday Peppermint Bark Liqueur

Well if you’ve already made two holiday liqueurs, you might as well have three so you can make a gift pack! And what says “Holidays” more than peppermint bark? To get the absolute perfect chocolate, I consulted my friend Carrie who is a chocolate expert – she even judges it at competitions. Did I mention that I like to surround myself with smart people? This Belgian dark chocolate we found is the best tasting chocolate powder I’ve ever had – the supplier called it “chocolate crack’. The sweetness of our rum, combined with the chocolate powder and peppermint oil made an outstanding holiday chocolate liqueur!
