Burnside Bourbon Oregon Oaked

Product Story

Once our Burnside Bourbon was successfully launched into the marketplace, I wanted to create a variation with some Oregon flair. Oregon Barrel Works is a cooper here in Oregon. The description for their Oregon Oak barrels caught my attention as it stated that the wood was chemically different and unique to Oregon. At the time the only company using Oregon Oak barrels was Clear Creek Distillery, and they were using untoasted Oak for their virgin spirit to make malt whiskey. Ready to experiment, I ordered a heavy charred 59 gallon Oregon Oak barrel and filled it with our Burnside bourbon. I was amazed at how much flavor the oak added and how it added such a lovely vanilla and spice characteristic. Burnside Bourbon Oregon Oak is the first whiskey ever to be finished in Oregon Oak which has now become very popular with some other regional distilleries. Eastside Distilling has since rebranded the Burnside line using Oregon Oak to finish all their whiskeys.
